Therapeutic Learning Center


The Therapeutic Learning Center is devoted to assisting anyone whose life has been touched by cancer. All programs, classes and support groups are free and open to the public. However if you are not a cancer survivor or cancer caregiver please consider a donation to help us continue to offer wellness programs in the future.

Wellness Programs and Exercise Classes are held at the PET/CT Imaging Center, Suite A, 4000 N. Illinois Lane, Swansea, IL.





Exercise Classes

Yoga for Wellness
Want to relax, relieve stress and improve your endurance, strength and flexibility? Yoga can enrich your life.

TAI CHI for Wellness
Learn movements that are gentle, slow and are designed to enhance better health, de-stress and provide awareness of mind, body and spirit.

Seated Yoga
A gentle Yoga class that anyone can do! This class will ease you into the world of Yoga.

Movement for Life
Movement for Life, is a therapeutic exercise and movement program with wonderful music designed to help you thrive! The Thursday class is open to everyone regardless of health, gender, age or ability level. The program improves overall wellness, range-of-motion, balance, strength and endurance, as well as emotional well-being and self-image. It can also help you also lose weight.

Wellness Programs

Look Good...Feel Better®
Cosmetologists help women undergoing treatment learn how to use make-up and to cope with appearance-related side effects. Each participant will receive a complementary make-up kit valued at $250 and learn to care for and use wigs, scarves, turbans and hats.

Journey To Wellness
A seven-week program for breast cancer survivors that integrates educational workshops, supportive discussion, and a variety of restorative physical exercises to help women recover from the emotional and physical effects of breast cancer treatment. For all breast cancer patients who have completed their cancer treatment. Program includes information from an Oncology Physician, Plastic Surgeon, Registered Oncology Dietitian, Registered Oncology Nurse, Physical Therapist and Professional Fitness Instructors.

Freedom From Smoking
Do you need to Quit Smoking? “Freedom From Smoking” can help. This program is a three-part smoking cessation program taught by a respiratory therapist in a supportive group setting. It can help you learn how to “Quit for Life.” Session 1: Participants identify why they smoke and what motivates them to quit. Session 2: Learn coping skills and reward systems. Session 3: Learn skills to quit for good including healthy eating and exercise habits. Program sponsored by Memorial and the Therapeutic Learning Center.

Healing Writing
Do you have issues or worries that add stress to your daily life? Join this class to learn the benefits of expressive writing and techniques that you will be able to use in reducing stress in your life. This two-session workshop is conducted by a cancer survivor and writer.

Support Groups

Hope Blooms Breast Cancer Support Group:

pink ribbonHope Blooms is a monthly community support group whose purpose is to reach out to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and have the opportunity to share their experiences. The group offers a sharing opportunity for women to express their physical and emotional needs with others who have had similar experiences. Speakers in the medical field are invited to meetings to discuss the latest advances in breast surgery, treatment, reconstruction and coping with emotional aspects of breast cancer.

Hope Blooms meets on 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at The MemorialCancer Center.

Cancer Support & Inspiration Group
1605 Lincoln Knolls Dr., Edwardsville

Meets 1st Monday of the Month at 6:30 p.m.

Cancer patients, Cancer Survivors and Cancer Caregivers are all welcome to attend.

Head and Neck Cancer Support Group

This support group is a place for Head and Neck Cancer patients, those with laryngectomies and their families & caregivers to connect with each other, obtain helpful information & gain support from each other.

The group will meet quarterly on:
