Our challenge in radiation therapy is to deliver a therapeutically effective dose or amount of radiation to the tumor site, while minimizing radiation exposure to surrounding normal tissue and organs.
Precision is crucial, and the Memorial and St. Elizabeth’s Cancer Treatment Center has some of the most advanced technologies to more accurately plan and deliver radiation therapy treatment. Our latest advance is the new Brainlab ExacTrac system which allows us to image and verify the patient’s position with sub millimeter accuracy just prior to treatment to ensure it is the same as the original alignment.
The benefits are significant. Better accuracy means more effective treatment — and the potential for better results.
Different cancers require different types of radiation therapy, and we provide some of the most advanced treatments available.
